There's nothing particularly cute about checking the weather by phone... unless, that is, you're greeted with an adorable image of a furry friend each time you do.  A new app called Weather Puppy lets you experience an "aww" overload every time you look at it.  The app itself is free, but it comes with 99-cent themes as well; each paid theme benefits a different animal charity, including humane societies, rescues, shelters and anti-cruelty groups in California, Florida, Michigan, New Mexico, New York, Pennsylvania, Texas and Utah.  (Oh, and for those of us loyalists who simply can't bear the thought of "cheating" on our own four-legged friends, there's an option to upload photos of them too.)

While the app's themes are currently limited to cuddly creatures of the "Who's a good boy?" variety, cat people are sure to purr once the upcoming feline version is released.  Regardless, our tails are totally wagging.  What a treat!
