Organizations are able to quickly set up and send help. Our first look is to one of our favorite organizations, Crowdrise. On Crowdrise you can follow and support grassroots organizations that have put their efforts into first gear quickly. Already, there are several projects up and running that focuse on raising money. The World Association of Natural Disaster (WANDAA) is coordinating efforts to send care package shipments to supply items that will be needed immediately over the next few days. One Good Samaritan has initiated an earthquake relief project to benefit the American Red Cross. The American Red Cross shelters, feeds and provides emotional support to victims of disasters and supplies nearly half of the nation's blood.
Another organization, Save the Children, has partnered with retail giant Brookstone, who have pledged to match any funds donated to Save the Children, with 100% going to the victims.
Lady Gaga has just designed a Japan rubber band bracelet that features the phrase "We Pray for Japan" written in both English and Japanese, along with Lady Gaga’s famous monster paw that is available for $5 via her official website. All proceeds will go to the Earthquake Relief Efforts.
We will continue to see many organizations and governments doing what they do best; reaching out to countries in need. We will showcase organizations and causes on the Milkshake main site that are finding ways to help the victims and the areas affected by the world's 5th worst earthquake in history.
