April Is Autism Awareness Month
As the saying goes, March roared in like a lion and is going out like a lamb. On these final days of the month, we're taking a look ahead to April—and not just for its spring showers. April is Autism Awareness Month and April 2 marks the fifth World Autism Awareness Day. Here are a few ways you can help out and honor the occasion.
Know The Facts
According to Autism Speaks, the largest autism science-and-advocacy organization in the U.S., about 67 million people worldwide living with the condition. According to the Autism Society, "autism is a complex developmental disability that typically appears during the first three years of life and affects a person's ability to communicate and interact with others." There is no known cause of autism.

Autism affects one out of 110 children—and almost one in every 70 boys. It is the fastest growing developmental disability in the world.
Make A Difference
The main goal of Autism Awareness Month is to give voice to the millions of people living with autism throughout the globe. You can help with this in several ways:
1. Use your social media power to "like" World Autism Awareness Day on Facebook. Share the information with your friends and help spread awareness about autism spectrum disorders.
