Bachelor Gives Back
Okay, we are so busted now - we have to admit it, we watch The Bachelor. We love the drama, the scenery (we mean the locations!!), and yes the bachelors are also pretty sweet. We knew Brad would end up with Emily and we are very excited for them!!
Really though, this season when Brad and Chris Harrison went off to visit the Henna preschool in Huntington, South Africa, our hearts melted. To see two grown men dancing around, kicking a soccer ball and devoting their time to kids was so uplifting.
Henna is the only school located in a very poor area and the average income per household is only $25 per month. The Lion Sands Private Game Preserve helped to build the school and provides healthy meals for the children, who might otherwise go hungry. The smiling faces of the playing children are so infectious that it is hard to believe they have so little.
Each season, Bachelor Gives Back supports a nonprofit organization that improves the quality of life and supports the enrichment and empowerment of communities around the world where we work, live and travel. In the past years, they have donated to the American Red Cross and Habitat for Humanity.
Bachelor Brad and team donated a solar panel that will allow the Henna School to have access to hot water year round and save significantly on electric bills. They also provided scholarships for several of the students. There is still much this little school needs, like funds for a health care provider because the nearest doctor is miles away. For the 200 kids between the ages of 3-7 at Henna, an education can mean all the difference in the world.
Even though Brad has given his last rose, helping others will always get you a rose in our book!
