Alpaca is the New Cashmere
But you knew that because you’re a style-maker, trendsetting kind of person!
Alpacas are long-necked and doe-eyed with cashmere-soft fur and—we’re told—a tendency to hum pleasantly. They flourish at altitudes well over 10,000 feet. Because alpacas are hearty, they are vital to Andean communities. The gift of an alpine meadow will ensure these much needed animals have plenty of nutrient-rich grass to help them survive the harsh weather. As a result, we get to purchase yummy coats and sweaters made from their soft yarn.
Oxfam is an international confederation of 14 organizations working together in 99 countries. They have partners and allies around the world find lasting solutions to poverty and injustice.

It’s a Wonderful Time of the Year
Its time to go out and buy some toys- because let’s face it -who really outgrows toys ? Besides these toys are helping others so there is no excuse not to shop !
Save the Children global education programs will get a boost this holiday season from the IKEA Soft Toy Campaign, running from November 1 to December 24. For every soft toy sold, $1.35 will go to IKEA global partners, Save the Children and UNICEF to extend and start new children’s educational programs in 22 countries. The funds raised will contribute to better school facilities, access to water and toilets, work towards strengthening the right to education for minority children, provide educational supplies and go to training teachers in child-friendly teaching techniques.
At IKEA they believe that all children have the right to a healthy, secure childhood and access to quality education, no matter where in the world they live.
Let’s Sing “Six Geese A Laying”
Sure we know the tune, but did you know that some geese can lay up to 75 eggs a year? These benefits add up quickly for families in desperate need of protein and a means of income. Geese are easy to care for because they don't require much shelter and can adapt to hot, wet or cold weather. Best of all, geese are highly efficient producers of animal protein.
Heifer International’s mission is to work with communities to end hunger and poverty and care for the earth. By giving families a hand-up, not just a hand-out, they are empowered to turn lives of hunger and poverty into self-reliance and hope.
Animals are “living loans” because in exchange for their livestock and training, families agree to give one of its animal’s offspring to another family in need. It’s called Passing on the Gift – a cornerstone of the Heifer International mission that creates an ever-expanding network of hope and peace.
