Care Free Pets
For those of you who thought the only good Justin Bieber's hair brought to the world was to excite preteen girls, think again. On a recent episode of The Ellen Show, the teen dream gave Ellen a lock of his hair to sell on eBay. The Bieb's hair raised a whopping $40,668. Every penny was donated to The Gentle Barn.
The Gentle Barn is a nonprofit organization that rescues animals that have suffered abuse and neglect. After going through extensive rehabilitation, the animals are used in programs to teach children kindness and compassion.
At The Virtual Barn, you can sponsor any number of animals: it's like owning a pet without all the fuss. Always wanted a horse when you were little? You could adopt Cinnamon, who was ridden so hard by a cowboy that she could not walk. After being given deep tissue massage therapy and nutrious food, she is now healthy, and happily retired.
Maybe you have a soft spot for cows. There are chickens, pigs, goats, dogs, cows, horses, and even a donkey and a llama that you can foster and love for as little as $5 per month.
They also sell clothing, jewelry and mugs, including our personal favorite, "Have You Hugged a Cow Today?" shirt.
Let's face it, couldn’t we all use more hugs and give a lot more love?
The Gentle Barn has transformed hundreds of animals with massage therapy, chiropractic care, acupuncture and (most importantly) love. Healed animals are introduced to The Barn's youth visitors. The Barn offers programs for at-risk youth, special education students and educational programming.
