Changing The Future Of Cambodia, One Child At A Time

Unlike many developed nations, where the population skews older, 65% of Cambodians are under the age of 25. This is due in part to the massive genocide the country experienced in the 1970s. Today, poverty is widespread, and while it affects citizens of all ages, there is one group that is particularly disadvantaged: the children.
Cambodian Child's Dream Organization is a non-profit organization centered in Siem Reap that seeks to aid the youngest members of the population. Though the CCDO does many things, one of their primary objectives is to provide clean water to those living in poverty. A mere $220 builds a well to give access to clean water for 40 people and lasts 10 years. Give up 43 lattes and you can sponsor a well.
They also do significant work in education, raising funds to send poor children to school, complete with all the necessities. Just $25 can provide a Cambodian child with a school starter kit, complete with a uniform, shoes, books and book bags. These are real, simple solutions that can change the course of someone's life.
Want to help out? The Friends of the CCDO are hosting an event on May 8 in New York City. Tickets to the fundraiser cost $100, but include food, drinks and a chance to win a trip to Asia worth $20,000. You can register for the event—or just learn more about the Friends of the CCDO—by clicking here.
