Clever Camping
Along with devouring slices of watermelon and canoeing across a glassy lake, sleeping under the stars is one of our favorite parts of summer. As the weather warms up, all we want to do is escape the city and head for the hills. But before we go, let's do a little last-minute shopping at Alite.
Why We Love It!
Alite is an awesome little company based out of San Francisco that makes affordable, smart camping supplies. Founded by Alaska native Tae Kim, the mission at Alite is simple: To get people out of the house and back into nature. To this end, they have filled their shop with fun, sleek and simple products. And newbies to the camping scene don't have to shell out for premium supplies; they can just visit the Ranger Station Lending Library to borrow all the necessary gear.
The Good News
Everything at Alite is ethically produced and made from sustainable materials, which makes your weekend in the woods just that much greener.
While you can stock up on the big items at Alite, we are really loving the little details. The store is full of clever devices, like the Cloverware Lite, a 100%BPA-free nesting set of colorful utensils. Hardcore outdoorsmen might enjoy the compact Survival Multi-Tool. So small it fits in the palm of your hand, this little gadget includes a compass, LED light, fire-starter flint, a thermometer, ruler and an emergency whistle.
Adults Only...
But by far the cheekiest product offered at Alite is the S.H. Sleeping Bag. The cryptic initials stand for Sexy Hotness, which is a pretty good way to describe this funny product. Outfitted with extra zippers, it's possible to zip two sleeping bags together for maximum body heat—or you can just walk around in the two-legged model by yourself. Baby, it's cold outside!
What's your favorite part of summer? We would love to hear!
