Fashion Forward: Hare+Hart
Though the name sounds like something out of a storybook, Hare+Hart is anything but child-like. The super-chic company makes luxury leather goods that will blow your average clutch out of the woods.
Why We Love It!
While some women collect shoes (and others go gaga for belts), we happen to horde handbags. Hare+Hart temps our worst shopping tendencies with their stylish and clean designs. Relying heavily on classic neutrals, the bags are made primarily from haircalf hides, which gives them a distinctive sheen. Our favorite piece is the signature Crawford Pouch, which comes in several colors and sizes, including the extra-large briefcase style shown at left.
Founded by college friends Emily Harrison and Jennie Engelhardt, the company is dedicated to finding eco-friendly and sustainable ways to create each and every leather product. Every piece at Hare+Hart is handcrafted in Argentina and New York using the greenest possible methods. Harrison and Engelhardt also use Argentine leathers that are byproducts of the beef industry and come from a tannery that sources 85% of its leathers from grass-fed, free roaming cows. While no leather can be totally cruelty-free, this is pretty much as close as it comes.
Cooler Weather, Indeed
Not in the market for a purse? Hare+Hart also makes buttery soft leather jackets in both neutral and black made with biodegradable acetate lining and antique bronze zippers. Pretty edgy.
