For the LOVE of the Game
Maybe your mad foot skills nabbed the regional title for your high school soccer team – or maybe all you know about “football” is that David Beckham is married to Posh Spice. Doesn’t matter. You, too, will love.fútbol.
Put most simply, “love.fútbol develops simple, safe soccer fields for children in impoverished communities worldwide.” The social-profit organization envisions a world where all kids have access to spaces free of trash, sewage, drugs and traffic. A place where they can safely play the world’s most popular game.
So far, love.fútbol fields have become sources for hope, inspiration, and community development in eight areas in Guatemala, serving more than 5,000 children. They are expanding throughout Central and South America, and will be in Honduras and Brazil by 2012 where the 2014 World Cup is being held.
While love.fútbol just announced a partnership with Andy Najar, 2010 Major League Soccer Rookie of the Year, you don’t have to be Pelé to get involved.

The pride in their eyes is proof enough that love.fútbol is a whole lot more than child’s play.
