Join The Tribe: The Adventure Project
We all want to change the world, but let's face it: That's one massive task. Sometimes it can even feel a bit overwhelming. But by focusing closely on cause and effect, The Adventure Project makes giant endeavors, like ending world hunger, seem much more manageable.
How It Works
The Adventure Project is a non-profit organization that aims to end poverty by supporting low-cost, high-impact social ventures. By funneling money into local businesses and organizations, The Adventure Project manages to work on a grassroots level to help develop produces and solutions that improve the quality of life in developing countries. Broken down by cause and results (or more easily explained as problem and solution), they feature sixteen projects a year, a list that rotates every few months.
Since it might sound a bit confusing at first glance, let's take a closer look at one of the causes currently featured on The Adventure Project: HUNGER. First, The Adventure Project identifies a problem. In this case, it's that 80% of the poor in Sub-Saharan Africa are rural farmers, and 75% of hungry children live in farming households. What's the solution? Fund a project selling water pumps, which provide a very low-cost way of increasing agricultural output by up to 1,000%. Every pump purchased helps pull a rural family out of poverty, which benefits everyone—especially the kids. Talk about making a difference!
See Your Money In Action
The best part about The Adventure Project is that they give you a chance to see how every dollar makes a difference. In their Results section, they break down the costs associated with each business venture, as well as the number of people reached by each project.
