Long Distance Runaround
TEAM MILKSHAKE …RUNNING A HALF MARATHON FOR TEAM HOLE IN THE WALL
Mile 1, Mile 2, Mile 3, Mile 4…. no big deal, piece of cake.
Mile 11, Mile 12… are we even going to make it?
That will be pretty much what the Milkshake team will be saying next Sunday, April 3rd when they run the More/Fitness half marathon in New York City on behalf of the Hole in the Wall camps.
What started out as an idea for a Milkshake monthly project has turned many of us into road warriors. We decided to run the half marathon mostly because, as you can imagine, we love a good cause.
Actor and philanthropist Paul Newman always had a dream of opening a camp for children with serious medical conditions. He envisioned the camp as a place where children could escape the fear, pain and loneliness of their conditions, kick back and “raise a little hell”. His dream became a reality and today more than 200,000 kids have attended a Hole in the Wall camp, free of charge.
It used to be that you ran races just because you loved to run. Now, with so many races raising money for incredible causes, many more people take to the road - even if their knees, back, or achilles can't take it!!
Support us and donate - even a small amount – and spur us on next Sunday.
Paul Newman’s Hole in the Wall is certainly a cause worth sweating for!
The Association of Hole in the Wall Camps is the world’s largest family of camps for children with serious illnesses and conditions like cancer, sickle-cell anemia and HIV/AIDS. Founded by Paul Newman in 1988, this not-for-profit aims to create a magical camp experience for all those in attendance. Having served more than 114,000 children from 50 states and 32 countries worldwide, the camps continue to deliver just the right kind of summertime escape and fantasy to so many deserving kids today.
