Look Sharp, Feel Great
It's no secret: We can never resist a great pattern. But despite our addiction, even we known that it can look a little gauche to pile on florals and stripes and polka dots—especially if you want to mix and match. Fortunately, Zaanha makes it easy to indulge in one lovely, busy item that won't leave you looking like a fashion victim.
Why We Love It!
Zaanha makes glorious scarves, shawls and accessories in almost every print you can imagine. Are you a stripes kinda girl? Check out their Herati Silk Scarves. Or maybe you are into animal print—they've got that, too. World travelers will love the Kalakari Flowers Shawl, while more subdued types can dip their toes in the print water with a two-toned ombre wrap. But no matter what you choose, we promise your skin will be happy: All Zaanha scarves are made with a super soft blend of cashmere and silk.
The Back Story
In 2003, Wendy Summer decided to branch out and start doing some volunteer work. She ended up mentoring Afghan women entrepreneurs, a project that changed her life. She found herself so inspired by their talents that she wanted to help spread the world and bring their textiles to American shoppers. "Enthralled by the extraordinary quality of embroidery I saw being produced, I wanted to give these women the opportunity to use their skills to create the highest quality products," she explains. And thus, Zaanha was born.
But not only does Zaanha give Afghan artists a way to sell their pieces directly to customers in the U.S. and abroad—it also helps support Afghan children. A percentage of proceeds from each sale is donated to the Zaanha Fund, which helps pay tuition for Afghan children in impoverished communities. They also help purchase computers, uniforms and school materials for educators in need.
