Oprah Winner Gives Back Big
Oprah... she moves mountains, can affect global change, turns unknown books into best sellers... and gives away a million dollars.
Steve Paletta was the recipient of this awesome prize after being crowned the winner on Oprah's "Big Give" show in 2008. The show pitted contestants in challenges around the country to determine who was the best unknown philanthropist.
With the money he won, Steve started GiveBack.org, a website that makes it easy to be charitable. Signing up is free, you can make and view all your donations in one place, and get one tax receipt. Special opportunities exist to punch up your giving when you shop online at more than 450 retailer partners.
Today Steve is launching “100 Days of Giving” and he will be giving away $500,000 to people to give to charity.
Here's how it works:
- Open your free GiveBack.org foundation.
- Every day for 100 days random people with GiveBack foundations will be awarded $1,000.
- Share the contest with friends and family and once they create their own foundations, you will earn more points and a chance of winning $50,000 to go in your foundation.
During the 100 Days of Giving, you have even more ways to increase your charitable donations with special deals:
- “Daily Deals” - Select retailers will double, triple or quadruple the percentage-of-purchase normally redirected into a foundation account. Among GiveBack's retailers offering a “Daily Deal” are Nike, Apple, Bloomingdale’s, Macy’s and Dell
- “Double the Reward” - Starting April 15, for all purchases other than “Daily Deals,” DBG, a GiveBack technology partner, will match the retailer’s reward, doubling the amount given to a shopper’s foundation account
Sign up now for GiveBack.org and get your change to win big and donate to your favorite causes.
