Organic Spirits
Kanon Vodka is the real deal.
And we mean real because it dates back to 1580. You see, King Karl IX of Sweden was producing cannons for the army but he couldn't keep up with demand. He needed factory workers to increase production and knew just the thing to incentivize them... vodka! He offered his good workers coins to be used as vouchers for vodka shots as production increased. Not suprisingly, cannon supply started meeting demand!
Unfortuanately the Swedish laws changed in the 1700's and the distillery was shut down until 2008, when it was rebuilt and Kanon Vodka was reborn. Now we are all able to drink the same pure, organic vodka that King Karl IX and the townspeople drank over 500 years ago.
Kanon's entire vodka making production from wheat to bottle is 100% organic and produced in a 3 mile radius of the original distillery. The fresh spring water comes from their own well, and the organic wheat is grown by local farmers. After the heart of the distillation is pulled out (that just means the best stuff for us to drink), the rest of the product is sent out to biogas stations to be used in eco vehicles and public transportation. Kanon insists that everything they use be recycled or repurposed.
All the bottles are made from 60% recycled glass and the distillery runs on electricity sourced from wind and water power. Check this out too: even the steam produced from the fermentation process of the wheat is used to generate heat in the buildings!
Because they only use organic products, have no additives or sugar, Kanon has a smooth, light and fruity taste that goes down easy: even as a straight shot, no frills, no ice, unmixed.
You don't have to go to Sweden to get Kanon, there are several stores in New York that also sell it online.
