Talk the Talk, Walk the Walk
Participating in a charity walk is an easy and healthy way to contribute to a cause you are passionate about. Of course you can also swim, bike, run or even play golf and make a difference.
We were fortunate enough to attend just one of the many Autism Speaks events the other day. This one took place at the fabled Winged Foot Golf Club where we were able to watch pro athletes like Giants QB Eli Manning and other celebrities like CBS “Early Show” co-host Chris Wragge vie for the longest drive and closest to the pin.
Even more fun was the amazing auction, fabulous South African wines and gourmet dinner we all enjoyed that evening where Bob Wright got up to speak about his commitment to finding a cure for autism.
Autism Speaks was started in 2005 by Bob (NBC Universal CEO) and Suzanne Wright after their grandson was diagnosed with autism. The organization is now the largest autism science and advocacy organization with fundraisers and events being held all over the country.
Sadly many of those with autism cannot speak for themselves which is why it is so important to talk the talk, walk the walk or even play some golf to help bring awareness and funds that will be used to research this syndrome and help find a cure.
Grab a friend, family member or colleague, enter an autism event and challenge yourself and help those that are faced with much greater challenges.
If athletics isn’t your thing, for the next two weeks, you can purchase incredible Cape Classic South African wines and 20% will be donated to Autism Speaks.
Autism Speaks has grown into the nation's largest autism science and advocacy organization, dedicated to funding research into the causes, prevention, treatments and a cure for autism; increasing awareness of autism spectrum disorders; and advocating for the needs of individuals with autism and their families.
