Today is World AIDS Day
Did you know that? - Here’s a few more facts you may not have known
- A total of 33 million people now live with HIV/AIDS.
- Two million of them are under the age of 15.
- Every day 7,397 people contract HIV—308 every hour.
- In 2008, 2.0 million people died from AIDS.
- Worldwide, women make up half of all people living with HIV.
- There are approximately 1.1 million people living with HIV/AIDS in the U.S.
Well? What are you going to do about it?? Here are a few ideas:
1) Lady Gaga, Justin Timberlake, Kim Kardashian, Ryan Seacrest among other celebrities are going dark on Twitter and Facebook. The silence will only be temporary, however, as it’s part of a $1 million fundraiser for World AIDS Day. You can buy their lives back on Buylife. Just pick the celebrity you want to save, text their number and donate $10.00. The project was organized by Alicia Keys on behalf of her charity Keep a Child Alive.
2) Check out the Elton John Aids Foundation and learn more about how you can get involved. Plus there are great celebrity pixs from all his events!
3) Go back and read yesterday’s Milkshake and buy a few Until There’s a Cure jelly bracelets that give to Aids education and research.
