Expand Your Social Network With Members Unite
Margaret Mead once famously said, “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.” Now, the founders of fantastic new philanthropic startup Members Unite are building on that truth—and this April, they're going global.
Why We Love It!
Members Unite is a brand new way to make a difference, while collaborating with fellow philanthropists from around the globe. For a small monthly membership fee, you get to help decide which project members’ contributions will fund. Members Unite encourages open discussion and debate before implementing the voting system, so a spirit of consensus is built into the entire process. After all is said and done, 100% of your monthly contribution goes toward the winning project, which you can keep track of by checking their history section.
You Can Fund This...
This April, there are nine different projects on the docket. While they are all worthy, we were excited about charities that work in every corner of the globe, from Locks of Love, who have become famous in the U.S. for providing hairpieces to cancer patients, to Room To Read, an organization that helps build libraries in Nepal.
Or This!
But when it comes down to it, our vote is going to the Afghan Institute of Learning, which provides education for women in Afghanistan. Every year, the AIL serves as many as 350,000 women and children by providing them with medical care, skills training, teacher training and leadership and human rights classes. The AIL does more than just teach women—it serves to empower an entire generation.
You can become a full member for as little as $5 a month. At that price, Members Unite is accessible to almost everyone, not to mention a powerful tool for children and schools. It’s never too early to start to see the difference we can make together – and never too late for the rest of us to remember, and unite!
