Worth the Trip
No reason to mourn the end of summer when there are fabulous fall weekend outings to plan. This little gem of a trip is an easy plane, train or car ride away for most of us and for others, well worth the distance.
Situated in Vermont, The Shelburne Farm is a 1,400-acre working farm and a National Historic Landmark that’s also well known for being an education center focusing on a conservation ethic—meaning that you cultivate a personal connection to your land and food.
A true agricultural estate, The Shelburne Farm also boasts an idyllic inn for overnight trips, 125 purebred cows (that produce award-winning farmhouse cheddar cheese, no less), and a selection of walking trails and other attractions like cheese making and a children’s farm.
For nature freaks and foodie geeks (guilty and guilty!), a weekend getaway to remote Vermont is about as natural and delicious as it gets, and just in time for the leaves to start falling.
Making the end of the weekend just a bit more palatable is the chance to stock up on the incredible organic food (meats, cheeses, maple syrup) that just might be consumed on the ride home!
P.S. The Inn closes for the season on October 17 this year, so make your reservations now!
