A Language for the Future
Your words can change the world.
~Douglas Gayeton and Laura Howard-Gayeton~
Directors of the Lexicon of Sustainability Project
Environmentally charged conversations have become the norm in recent years. You think more about the choices you make in everyday life and how those affect future generations. In some circles, individuals are not only talking about it, but they are also offering creative ways to refine old practices in food and farming, improving their communities and the overall quality of life.
Award-winning artist Douglas Gayeton and his wife Laura Howard-Gayeton, owners of Laloo's ® Goat's Milk Ice Cream Company, started The Lexicon of Sustainability Project in an effort to recognize these individuals and organizations, focusing on the development of a new language and community based on words changing, and improving, the world as we know it.
What was initially presented as a book idea now has grown into a thriving multi-media project that includes short films, social networks, and a traveling photography show. The Lexicon has launched a call for 100 curators or more specifically students, teachers, farmers, librarians, gardeners, chefs, and food activists from across the country to host pop up shows in their own backyards. If you are interested in participating, you can download the online application.
