Eco-Friendly Digs for the Modern Traveler
They say thinking outside the box is a good thing—but sometimes, good things come in small, geometric packages. Take, for example, the Hotel Endemico, a new eco-friendly getaway located just a hour’s drive south of the U.S. border in Baja California, Mexico.
Designed by the folks at Gracia Studio, this “hotel” is actually a cluster of 20 sleek and modern mini cabins. Each one is outfitted with a bedroom, a bathroom, a terrace and even an outdoor clay kiva fireplace, so you can hang out on the deck and enjoy the striking view. The free-standing rooms—termed “EcoLofts” by the architects—are all designed to be as earth-friendly as possible. Standing above the soil on little stilts, the rooms have minimal impact on the gorgeous landscape. In fact, they were designed in part to blend into their surroundings and offer an unobstructed view of the vineyards below.
Still not sold on these innovative, high-end cabins? This might change your mind: Not only is there a restaurant on the premises, staffed by the Culinary Arts School of Tijuana, there’s also a picturesque pool cut right into the hillside. Visiting the Hotel Endemico sounds a bit like camping—if your version of camping involved gourmet meals, top-notch design, and the most beautiful scenery this side of the gulf.
Book a night’s stay at the Endemico. Double rooms start at $200 USD. Learn more by checking out the Grupo Habita website.
