Explore the Planet… Off the Path
Roadmonkey – are you one?
Roadmonkeys tend to be people who are independent, global thinkers, adventurous sorts who know a lot and like to travel a bit off the radar.
Roadmonkey, an adventure philanthropy company, founded by Paul von Zielbauer in 2008, combines physical adventure with a meaningful volunteer project that you get to start and finish on each expedition.
The goal of each trip is to get off the tourist path and explore a new region of the world by immersing yourself into a culture to truly understand it. Each project directly benefits the local people and the communities in need.
The trips are physically challenging, intellectually stimulating and without a doubt, deeply gratifying. Not everybody is a RoadMonkey. They tend toward what they call “quiet optimism”. They don’t mind getting their hands dirty for a good cause. They may travel in small groups but they accomplish big things.
Do you think you have what it takes to be a roadmonkey? If so, sign up for one of their upcoming expeditions – and hey, how about taking us with you???
Upcoming Expeditions:
Peru Expedition: June 2011
Roadmonkey’s second Peru expedition, includes 4 days rafting the pristine waters of the Apurimac River, in Southern Peru, and exploring its deserted sandy beaches, and 3 days building a daycare center for a struggling community in Ollantaytambo, in the Andean foothills
Tanzania, July 20011
In June, a Roadmonkey expedition team will return to Tanzania to summit Africa’s tallest mountain, via the challenging and scenic Machame Route, and then travel to the island of Zanzibar, off Tanzania’s Indian Ocean coast, to complete our customdesigned, hands-on volunteer project.
