Midnight Rider
It’s summertime and the living is easy ... until you fill your car up with gas and faint at the bill. Instead of putting your hard earned green stuff in fuel, why not invest in a green bike?
This baby is not only beautiful and offers a smooth ride, but it has enough bells and whistles to make your friends a little green.
The Schwinn Vestige is a biodegradable bike made from recyclable flax fiber that’s coated with water soluble paint. Flax,an extremely strong and flexible fiber has the unusual property of being translucent. Schwinn utilized this feature and installed a lighting system that is powered by the front hub, that then illuminates the bike's frame when in motion.
Fenders and grips are made from bamboo. Oh, and for all you cycling name-droppers (you know who you are), it is equipped with Schwalbe tires and a 9-speed Shimano drive train.
Although it may seem a bit pricy at around $1,200, you can ride it proudly knowing how much you're saving on gas, car maintenance and the dent to your carbon footprint.
Oh and maybe you will lose a spare tire while you’re at it!
