Those Fabulous Beekman Boys
Quit that cushy corporate job, move to the country and spend your days running your own farm, harvesting your own vegetables and milking your own goats... yeah right!
Well that’s exactly what Brent Ridge and Josh Kilmer-Purcell, better known as “the Beekman Boys” to fans of their Planet Green reality show and successful product line, decided to do. And lucky for us, we can all just sit back and enjoy the fruits of their labor with no more than a click of the mouse.
Not only are the Beekman Boys advocates for green living, they are also the founders of Beekman 1802, an all-natural lifestyle brand that was started when the two decided (on a whim) to buy the Beekman Mansion located in Sharon Springs, New York. Since then, Josh and Brent have lived off the land and created all sorts of handmade products, their chemical-free goat’s milk soap being the most popular. There’s even a different scented soap for each month of the year!
But probably the most inspiring part of the story is the affect the boys are having on their local community. Not only do they rely on locals to help create their products, but their town, which was once facing a declining population and economic struggles is now drawing hundreds of visitors and new residents from across the country, thanks to the popularity of the Beekman Boys.
Wouldn't you like to be their neighbor?
