What Do You Make of This?
One man’s (or woman's in this case) trash is another man’s treasure.
Queens, New York, resident Jenelle Marlbrough not only lives by this cliched motto, but is taking the idea and running with it...straight to her sewing machine. The line of bags she crafts for her company First World Trash come in all shapes and sizes—totes, messenger bags, wallets, laptop sleeves and beyond. Every one of Marlbrough’s creations is made of old billboard vinyl and seatbelts that were tossed away with no other obvious intention than what they were made for.
Before the discarded trash ever reached the landfill, Jenelle found a purpose for it, giving the seemingly useless waste a new life. Think of it as trash-to-accessory reincarnation, oozing with good karma. Prices range from $7 to $160, and no two items are exactly alike.
All of the bags are waterproof, tear proof and stitched with industrial strength, which means you can use and abuse them for many lives over without much damage.
Pretty impressive for something that was intended to sit and keep our other garbage company for no telling how long.
