With Flying Colors
The first thing we thought when we saw these enticing fabrics was, “These colors are incredible!” Then we learned that the fabrics come in more than 20 bright colors, are sustainable and hand embroidered by the Otomi Indians of Mexico.
Stefany Gonzalez has made it her mission to source products that reflect something natural, beautiful and indigenous to Mexico, Central and South America. These are all properties of the perfect Jacaranda tree. She named her store after the tree, and has opened an online shop offering a line of sustainable, handmade home furnishings guaranteed to brighten up your environment.
The designs for the brand mix modern style with a traditional process and natural materials. We love the sensational colors of the one-of-a-kind Mayan embroidered pillows. You can also order a wide variety of 100% natural cotton Otomi Indian fabrics to use for upholstery, tablecloths or whatever inspires your imagination. The artisans embroider the fabric by hand in their homes in the mountains of Mexico. The threads are tinted with natural dyes and there is a large array of colors to choose from.
Jacaranda’s mission is to prevent the extinction of the traditions of Mexican culture and promote the hard work that goes into the creation of these products. Since there are very few women in each village that do this intricate embroidery, Gonzalez is helping to keep this dying art from being lost forever.
