A World-Changing Party

When Healthy Child Healthy World – an organization that empowers parents to protect children from harmful chemicals - sent out a call for people to host parties in their homes, I excitedly stepped up. I’ll admit, it was more for the excuse of having a girls’ night than anything else. But this gathering wasn't your typical hen party.

A World-Changing Party

Fiesta With Ulterior Motives

Under the guise of a Cinco de Mayo party, I invited my gal pals over to make tamales, sip margaritas, and, oh, by the way, learn about nasty synthetic chemicals in everyday items. The girls had fun perusing the all-natural products I set out on display, compliments of Healthy Child Healthy World sponsors, but the real stunner of the evening was watching the organization’s video.

200

Chemicals

We Got Schooled

Today, babies are born with more than 200 industrial chemicals in their blood, according to Healthy Child Healthy World. We use more synthetic chemicals than any previous generation in personal care, food, and even the mattresses we sleep on.

Be Their Hero

The idea of saying sayonara to your skinny jeans, ditching your iPod touch, and forsaking all modern comforts for a crunchy lifestyle is enough to make any modern mom cringe. But you don’t have to do that to protect your little superstars. It’s just a matter of small steps that add up to a big pay-off.

Easy Peasy Changes

Using green alternatives to toxic pesticides, opting for organic at the grocery store, using all-natural cleaning supplies, and replacing plastic containers with glass or metal are all ways you can reduce the chemicals being absorbed by your child. At the end of the party, my girlfriends eagerly snatched their swag bag filled with fun samples and coupons and headed home to change their worlds.
