Better Than Costco, More Social Than Playgroup
Most would start out saying something like, “For the cost of two Starbuck coffees a month, you could be helping children around the world.” Not us though. Have you seen a mom without her caffeine fix? Scary! No, we’d rather give up our annual Costco membership – the crowds are crazy and you always end up buying too much – to join Members Unite.
Why We Love It
Members Unite is a brand new way to make a difference while collaborating with other givers across the globe. For a monthly membership fee, as low as $5/month, the organization ferrets out meaningful causes and posts them for review. Members weigh in on what matters most and where the monthly pot of money should go. After much discussion, a vote is taken and 100% of your monthly contribution goes toward the winning project. Proof of distributed funds is posted every month.
You Can Fund This...
This April there are nine different projects on the docket. We are especially excited about charities that focus on children in every corner of the globe, from Locks of Love, who have become famous in the U.S. for providing hairpieces to cancer patients, to One World Futbol Project, an organization that spreads the joy of play to children living through devastation – man-made or natural – by providing indestructible soccer balls.
Or This!
But when it comes down to it, our vote is going to Aids Orphan because there are 10 million orphans in Africa suffering from AIDS. They’ve not only lost the love and protection of their parents—in many cases, they also suffer discrimination due to their HIV status. Aids Orphan provides orphanage staff training on HIV awareness, counseling, and working with these children in a sensitive manner.
