Clothe Your Kids, Feed The World
Two birds in one stone: Clothing your kids in these cute pieces can feed children all over the world.
In 2006, "first niece" and first-rate philanthropist Lauren Bush started working on a special project called "FEED" on behalf of the UN World Food Programme. The concept was simple and thoughtful: design and sell tote bags to benefit the School Feeding program, and make the totes from the very same bags used to deliver the food itself.
These days, Lauren's project has blossomed into a full-fledged clothing and accessories enterprise with its own non-profit arm built in -- a perfect progression for a fashion-model-turned-role-model. To date, FEED has donated more than $6 million and 60 million meals to youth around the world.
It's easy as pie to get involved: a simple purchase of anything on the FEED website helps further the cause. From bracelets, makeup pouches and scarves to tee shirts, onesies and tiny little lounge pants, the FEED line can easily clothe an entire family, but we're particularly smitten with its pieces for the kiddos.
Looking great, feeding those in need and spreading a message of hope all at the same time? We're no Tim Gunn, but we still predict such a fitting combination will never go out of style.
