Get Out the Vote: Win $10K for Your School from Target
The retail giant is giving $2.5 million to K-12 schools -- up to $10,000 apiece.
Target has long been a lifesaver for the parent with the packed schedule, offering nearly everything a person could ever need in just one store. But this summer, it's one-upping itself via its Give With Target program, which pledges to donate $2.5 million to K-12 schools across the US. The funds will be awarded in the form of gift cards for each school that ends up a winner. For a school to enjoy a donation from Target, all it takes is 25 people each clicking a mouse just once.
The program is generating heat through a good, old-fashioned voting process. Using Facebook as its platform, Target is encouraging parents, teachers and friends to vote for their school of choice each week; for every 25 votes generated for a school, Target will donate a $25 gift card. The ceiling for any individual school is $10,000 (or 4,000 votes); the winning cards may be used for school supplies and books.
The program runs through September 8, 2012 or until $2.5 million in awards have been reached -- whichever comes first.
