Let’s Get Dirty
Feeling conflicted about your kid’s TV time? Wash away the guilt by tuning her in to Dirtgirlworld. The animated series, aimed at 3-7 year-olds, reminds your little one that the best entertainment is found between the grass and the sky, and each short episode places your budding sprout's perspective into the great outdoors, beckoning her inner explorer and encouraging her to switch from “viewing to doing.”
Dirtgirl, the quirky star of the whimsical PBS show, takes viewers along on her garden adventures, answering questions plucked straight from the minds of curious tots: Do ants have eyelids? How do bees make a garden grow? Her best friend, Scrapboy lives next door and knows how to expertly fashion junk into treasures, and other characters rounding out the bizarre bunch include Grubby the grub, Ken the weevil, Roger the rooster and Hayman the scarecrow.
Kids will also be captivated by the show’s groundbreaking visual technique, which fuses animation and photo-montage to outfit the characters with real mouths and eyes, enabling them to more sincerely impart their heartfelt stories.
In our digital world, Dirtgirlworld is a great reminder of the awe-inspiring power of nature—something we can all appreciate, no matter our age.
So go ahead... rinse, lather, and repeat. Even though there’s “dirt” in the title, it’s good, clean fun.
