"I have a one-year-old right now who sleeps in my bed. He came in last month and it's been a hard adjustment for all of us being that he is so young. There are no cribs, no baby monitors, or strollers here. he is my alarm clock these days. I get up, change him and pass him off to play with some of the older kids. Then I get myself ready for the day and then help get the rest of the kids ready for school. We all walk over to our school where we spend our days. I personally teach and look over the overall management and running of the school, teachers, students and staff. The job requires a lot of multi-tasking between medical emergencies coming up, family and personal issues with the students, and the every day running and management of our home and school. We come home, have dinner together and then sit by the fire or in a big circle in the living room for a family meeting, sing songs, dance, do homework and then get ready for bed".

This is the profile of an incredibly energetic, passionate, hard working 24 year old.

Who is Maggie Doyne? Well, she is a compassionate young woman who took a left fork in the road, choosing to travel the world for a year over starting college.

Then she fell in love with Nepal and the children of Nepal. Upon learning so many of these sweet children were orphans, she quickly hatched a plan to get a home built for them, even though she was only 18 at the time.

After investing her own life savings, she returned to her home in New Jersey where she raised $25,000 through her tireless fundraising.  She return to Nepal, money in hand and was able to purchase a track of land to build the Kopila Children's Home on. Just as the orhpanage was ready to burst at the seams, CosmoGirl was on the phone, telling her that she had won a $20,000 prize for her work, financed by Maybelline. Doyne could now pay to add second and third floors to her shelter and bring in more homeless orphans.

Now 24, Maggie has made Nepal her home caring for over 40 children. As word spread of the young woman and the good she has been doing for these children, dosomething.org awarded her a $100,000 grant to build a school which now teachees 230 students.
