Mother Nature Busts A Move

Break dancing animals and singing plants share an earth-friendly message to a hip-hop beat in rapper Mos Def’s latest recording. The Pacha’s Pajamas album, based on the children’s book and live show, debuts this spring and aims to educate and enthuse the youngest generation about the environment.
Mos Def, who has lent his voice to Nickelodeon’s Yo Gabba Gabba, was happy to narrate the story of a girl who wants to be a nature superhero because he believes in the cause. He explains, “The earth was given as a trust to mankind. So we have a responsibility to look after it, take care of it, and treat it with respect ‘cause it’s a gift from the creator to us.”
You won’t have to worry about this rap CD’s lyrics. School principals and celebrities alike sing the praises of the project, which was started by environmental educator Aaron Ableman. “We are offering positive messages about our planet and making it as enjoyable as any Hannah Montana or Selena Gomez pop song,” says Ableman.
What originated as a hip-hop musical at school assemblies, has since turned into a book and morphed into a celebrity-infused music CD, and will soon become an interactive mobile game app as well.
If you want to get in sync with Mother Earth and your kids, you can order a copy of the book or download the tunes at www.pachaspajamas.com.
