Out of the Box: Bento & Bunnies
Is your child's lunchtime routine getting a bit stale? Spice it up with our series Out of the Box.
In Japan, bento boxes are a popular way to package lunch. With multiple small compartments and an emphasis on cute, they're also perfectly suited to child-sized snacking. Instead of sending your kid off to school with a brown bag sandwich, surprise them with fun-shaped eggs, an alligator lunch box, and some fruity snacks.
But before you pack, you need the sack. Innobaby offers an adorable, affordable, eco-friendly way to package lunch in their Keepin' Fresh Kids Stainless Steel Bento. We particularly love the alligator print, but the swimming fish are pretty sweet, too.
Inspire your child to new heights of healthy eating with animal-shaped hard-boiled eggs. Simply slip the cooked egg into one of these molds (found at Williams Sonoma), leave it over night, and Ta-Da! You've got a bear-shaped bite!
Finally, round out the box with a few extras. It's traditional to include some seasoned rice, but pasta or couscous will do equally well. Add a few veggie sticks and a package of Annie's Organic Bunny Fruit Snacks, and you've just packed a slam-dunk meal.
How do you keep bagged lunches feeling fresh?
