The Big Picture
A picture is worth a thousand words, but 100 Cameras makes them worth even more. Handing out cameras to children living in unjust conditions to document their lives, proves that while subject matters can be captured, some leave you speechless.
100 Cameras gives kids a renewed perspective behind the lens, arming them with power, a voice, and hope. After identifying impoverished communities, the staff distributes donated cameras at the project location and teaches the kids a course in photography. Children tell their story in images, encouraging their self-confidence and helping them build their own identity.
Once projects are complete, 1oo Cameras sell the prints online and at photo exhibitions. Each child’s photo narratives raise awareness and money to foster growth within their community, and 100% of the proceeds are given to organizations in the child’s community that are providing sustainable solutions to improve their condition.
Purchase a photograph, adopt a camera, or share the photographer’s stories and images.
Developing photographs that develop children -- looking at the big picture has never been so poignant, or vital.
